I have been taking an
etching class at the
Fleisher Art Memorial since January. Yesterday was our last day, and this is the first time I am posting anything from that class, meaning it has taken me an entire semester to feel remotely competent in the medium. I had never done print making before, so there was a lot of learning and technique experimentation.
I did these 2 prints mid-semester, based on the Mississippi Sheiks' album, Stop and Listen. This is done by iron transfer and
chine-colle. I cut out the two figures' silhouettes out from a printout of the original cover, and then photocopied the assembled piece. If done within about thirty minutes, you can iron the toner from your photocopy directly onto your plate (I have been using exclusively zinc plates).

The yellow and orange are colored rice paper, glued with methyl cellulose and pressed during the inking process. I had originally planned on continuing this edition, using several other colors, but my plate mysteriously disappeared after 2 pulls. I am still on the hunt....
