These two pieces were inspired by/for my friend, Becket Ming Flannery. He commissioned a piece by me, and requested it to be 2 x 1 3/4 inches. So here you go. He is currently studying in Pont-Aven, France, so the actual painting is probably sitting in his mailbox, waiting for his arrival. The second piece, Green Ribbon, was completed at the same time and is the same size. Both are based off of a series of 8 sketches I had drawn about 2 months ago. I liked working so small, and am glad I was asked to do this, otherwise I probably never would have made such a small painting. I was forced to pay attention to things that I often overlook when working larger, like subtle shifts in value and intensity. Even the smallest brush mark could affect the entire piece, which was interesting, but also asked me to generate more intentional mark-making.

You've had a "professional" website since April! How did I not know this? Probably cause I'm bad about checking your blog. All of your old and new stuff looks great...
