I am currently working on an album cover for Mr. Ben Bradlow's new CD. This project is proving itself to be more difficult than I imagined, as I am trying to use sound to inform my images, rather than visual entities. But I am also working with visual images that relate to the music, such as the intense red lights projected onto the stage and the resulting deep, black shadows that I remember from his concerts. I have various images like that floating around in my mind, we'll see how they all come to weave together, or if they do at all.
This is a preliminary watercolor, which is based off of an image of Ben and one of The Mississippi Sheiks' album covers, "Stop and Listen." I really intend for the colors to be much more vivid and raw, I think oils will come next, which will help with intensity and texture.
